Not All Olive Oils Are Created Equal (Flavor Your Life!)

Olive Oil is a healthy, delicious option for cooking. Check out how the Flavor Your Life campaign can help you choose the right oils. #flavoryourlife #sp #momsmeet #homecooking #oliveoilOlive oil has been my go-to cooking oil since I started cooking. I think that’s because it’s what my mom always cooked with. For the most part, I just buy whatever olive oil is cheapest and available at the local grocery store. At times, I have bought or been gifted craft oils, which bring a specific flavor to the dishes that I cook. It really does make a big difference in the taste and quality of my cooking. Recently, I was introduced to the Flavor Your Life campaign, which teaches home chefs about how (and why!) to choose olive oils that will compliment your food flavors. It is a great educational tool if you cook with olive oil frequently!

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links. See sidebar for details.

Why Olive Oil?

I love olive oil, and use it in pretty much all of my cooking. For baking, I go between olive oil and coconut oil depending on the desired flavor in my baked goods. Olive oil is made from the fruit that grows on European olive trees, and extra virgin olive oil is made with a press -no heat or chemicals involved. That makes it a clean, natural product for my family to enjoy. Additionally, olive oil is very versatile, so I can use it for anything from pan frying to sautéing to baking.

About Flavor Your Life

The Flavor Your Life campaign was created to help educate North American consumers on authentic, European olive oils. In the age of technology, more and more people are interested in learning about the products that we all consume. Driven by the European Union, Unaprol, and the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Flavor Your Life is a credible source of information on all things European olive oil.

Check out the Flavor Your Life website to learn what extra virgin olive oil is, how and why you can tell if your oil is authentic, and how to cook with olive oil. You will also find some yummy recipes!

Personal Experience

Moms meet sent over Zucchi Sweet and Fruity extra virgin olive oil for my family to try. It’s a nice mild, kind of fruity olive oil that’s been great to cook with.

So far I have used it to cook my everyday baked dinners – including salmon and sheet pan fajitas!

This fajita recipe is great, and so simple! I just cut a couple of chicken breasts, a few bell peppers, and a red onion into strips and laid it all out on a sheet pan. I drizzled olive oil over the top, added seasoning, and popped it in the oven. It is definitely a new addition to my go-to dinner recipes. 🙂 All of the ingredients are simple and healthy.
