Sseko Review – Using Fashion for Good Through Direct Sales

Seek offers quality products AND quality opportunities for women in the US and Uganda! #directsales #fashionforward #workfromhomeAs you’ve seen from my previous posts, I believe that direct sales companies can be a great thing for moms – and all women. Sskeo Designs is a footwear and accessory company that takes that concept one step further. American founder, Liz Forkin Bohannon, started Sseko with the intention of helping women in Uganda to fund their university educations. Now, Sseko is providing the opportunity for women in the US and Uganda to work together to help themselves move forward through financial freedom. Read on to see my review of the Sseko company, opportunity, and products!

*please note – the products mentioned in this post were gifted to me by a Sseko representative in exchange for sharing my experience and their company information with you. All opinions are my own, and facts were provided by Sseko.

What is Sseko?

Sseko is a Uganda-based fashion company selling footwear, handbags, and accessories. As I mentioned, Sseko was founded with the mission of sending women to college in Uganda. So far, they have funded education for 88 women and counting!

In addition to our university-bound team, Sseko also employs women from all walks of life. By creating an environment of dignity, honor and dedication, Sseko Designs provides the opportunity for women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society.

The company works to help women create income and opportunities for themselves through their craft. You can get to know the Sseko Uganda team here!

How does the Sseko opportunity work?

In addition to our team in Uganda, we create opportunity for women in the U.S. to earn an income and fulfill their dreams! Through the Sseko Fellows Program, we provide the resources for women across the U.S. to sell Sseko and launch their own ethical and impactful direct sales businesses. Every Fellow is paired one-to-one with a woman on our team in Uganda!

As a fellow with Sseko, women start out at 20% commission on product sales and have room to grow from there. Women have the opportunity to just sell products on the side, work full-time gaining sales, or grow a team of Sseko fellows and work together. It’s a very versatile programs, so that you can find the best option to fit into your lifestyle. Of course there are also other company perks, and you can learn more about the Sseko opportunity here.

What are the products like?

Sseko products are all hand-crafted by the team in Uganda as well as artisans in Kenya and Ethiopia. They are made with durable, quality materials like real leather. The team over at Sseko was generous enough to send over a couple of products for me to check out and share with you.

Ribbon Sandals

The ribbon sandals are a staple Sskeo item! Made with real leather and solid rubber sole, they are comfortable and durable. Each pair come with a base and a pair of ribbons. You can also purchase additional ribbons for endless customizable options.

They come with ideas on how to tie your ribbons, or you can create your own unique look. I couldn’t help but think that these would have been great when I was pregnant! You can wear them as tight or loose as you want and change the fit each day.

Black Tassel Clutch

This real-leather clutch is super cute and simple. It would be great to dress up for a special event or use as an everyday staple. I love that each item comes with a tag to tell you who on the Sseko team made your individual item.

Do I know any ladies who have already taken advantage of the Sseko opportunity?? I’d love to hear about your story in the comments!

If any of you have questions about the brand or fellow program, please reach out. I will be happy to connect you with the answers.
