Setting goals for maternity leave can help you to feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally! Enjoy your time at home while preparing to go back to work. #newmom #workingmom #maternityleave #newbaby

Hey there! If you’ve noticed that it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, that is because I am currently on maternity leave. Our daughter is now 8 weeks old, and I have been taking that time to get to know her and enjoy being home with her and my son. Okay, if I’m honest, I’ve also been kept plenty busy and a little overwhelmed trying to juggle the two kiddos! I wrote this post as I was preparing for our little girl’s arrival. I wrote it with two intentions – to have goals down on paper for myself and to share with other moms who need some help setting goals for their own maternity leave. With my first son, I did not do anything like this. Those first blurry 11 weeks flew by and left me feeling like I had wasted them on the couch. Keep reading for the goals that I set for maternity leave. read more

Need some new staples for your maternity wardrobe, but don't want to spend a fortune? Shop #secondhandfirst with thredUP! #sponsored #thredup #maternity #pregnant #maternityoutfit

When it comes to baby and maternity clothes, I hate spending money on things that I am only going to use for such a short time! Maternity clothes especially can be really expensive. With both of my pregnancies, I have been fortunate enough to have friends pass on some of their old clothes. Hand-me-downs have seriously been great, and their clothes are always still in great condition. During my first pregnancy, I ended up doing one big shopping trip from an online consignment shop to get the rest of the staples that I needed. Unfortunately, my second baby is going to be born in the exact opposite time of year. I have one September baby and am expecting our next little one to arrive in April. Guess those prized maternity jean shorts won’t come in too handy for this winter pregnancy. Now it’s time for another shopping spree from thredUP! Check out this post to read my thredUP maternity review and see some of my favorite new pieces for fall and the upcoming holiday season. read more

How to Pack Your Hospital Bag (Without Overpacking)

Getting ready for baby is exciting and overwhelming! Use this simple hospital bag checklist to make packing for labor ad delivery simple. #laboranddelivery #hospitalbag #pregnancy

I recently saw a blog post from a very cute, very excited first time mama about what to pack in your hospital bag. I showed the list that she wrote out to my husband, and his reply was “is she going on vacation for two weeks before going home?!” The truth is, you really don’t need much with you at the hospital. In fact, packing less means that you will have less stuff to keep track of, potentially leave behind, and lug around the hospital with you. Between taking care of your new addition and family coming and going, your hospital room may start to feel cluttered and chaotic. The last thing that you want to do is add a mess of personal belongings on top of that. Here is a list of what you really need to take to the hospital with you. Hopefully, it will help you to pack your hospital bag without overpacking. read more

Your Career Doesn’t Have To Take A Back Seat To Parenthood (Guest Post!)

Which comes first, parenthood or your career? Well, Lindsey from Delicately Balancing life decided not to choose! She is a modern mom, career woman, and loving wife who finds a way to thrive as a working mom. Check out this post to see how and why your career doesn't have to take a backseat to parenthood.

Hello to all of Lexie’s followers and a big thank you to Lexie for having me as a guest blogger! My name is Lindsey and I blog over at www.delicatelybalancinglife.com. I’ve been a wife for 17+ years, but a mom for just six short months! I spent my 20’s and most of my 30’s focused on my career as a law firm administrator, so when my husband and I decided to FINALLY turn our party of two into a family of three, I knew one thing for sure: I wasn’t going to let all I had worked so hard to build fall by the wayside in the name of motherhood. I had built a reputation as a hard working go-getter and there was no way that I was going to be seen as anything less than that just because I was a mom!
